Gather at the corner of Wilshire & Western
WORD-LA Worksession
Friday, October 19, 4pm
137 N. Virgil Ave. #201
Los Angeles, CA 90004
During the height of election season, women across the United States are taking to the streets for a nationwide Week of Action to Defend Women’s Rights, October 16-22. Most Americans will be watching the presidential election closely over the next few weeks. Millions are watching the two major party candidates debate.
Mitt Romney’s idea of equality seems limited to getting women home from work in time to make dinner. Even after more than 18 months of escalating legislative attacks on women, President Obama refuses to take a stand and defend women’s rights. Depending on either of these candidates to defend our rights is a recipe for disaster for women.
Join WORD-LA on Saturday, October 20 as we take to the street and demand action on the issues that affect our lives. Our rights are not up for debate! Women and our allies will demand equal pay, reproductive justice, an end to the budget cuts, access to healthcare, childcare and maternity leave, and more.
Please wear your WORD shirt or a purple shirt to show solidarity and gather at the corner of Wilshire and Western at 1 pm.
On Friday, October 19, organizers and volunteers will have a worksession at the WORD office (137 N. Virgil Ave. #201, Los Angeles, CA 90004). Please join us from 4 pm to 7 pm on Friday to call supporters, make signs and prepare for Saturday’s demonstration.
