WORD-NYC is ready for the Oct 16 debate! Find an action near you! |
Politicians and public figures are continuing to attack women's rights this election season, from new anti-woman legislation in dozens of states to vicious rhetorical attacks in the media.
Now more than ever, women and our allies must stand together and defend the rights we've won against attacks in the government and media.
Join WORD for a nationwide week of action October 16-22. Protest at the Presidential debates or in your city.
Women’s rights are not up for debate!
This week, as the Presidential candidates debate in New York and Florida, women will take the streets outside the debates and across the country. Women and women's rights have barely been mentioned in the debates so far. With attacks on women continuing at historic levels, excluding our issues from the debates adds insult to injury.
Mitt Romney wants to strip women of our rights and President Obama wants to avoid the issue entirely. Neither of them will defend our rights. While all eyes are on the presidential election, women across the country are mobilizing to draw attention to the issues that affect our lives.
WORD is organizing protests outside the presidential debates on Oct. 16 in Hempstead, New York and on Oct. 22 in Boca Raton, Florida. During the week of October 16-22, women across the United States will march and protest in locally organized actions to defend women’s rights. Contact the WORD office near you and get involved in this exciting week of action.

Challenge politicians with the direct question: Will you or will you not sign the Women's Rights Pledge?
“I pledge to never vote for any legislation that limits or restricts women’s right to abortion or attempts to circumvent women’s full access to healthcare.”
